Mastery Item Bank Usage and Efficacy Study (2023–24)
This correlative study exames the impact of using the Mastery Item Bank for formative assessments on student achievement in math and English Language Arts (ELA). Usage of Mastery Item Bank (MIB) assessments was significantly associated with higher end-of-grade state test scores in both math and ELA. Specifically, students saw significant score improvements when completing at least 20 math assessments or 13 ELA assessments annually. The study supports the use of MIB assessments as a beneficial, additive component of a balanced assessment system when combined with benchmark assessments.
